Hi all, I am pretty confident in Looker, but I wanted to see if there is a better way of doing this. When I have a bar chart that is pivoting on another dimension, I almost always need the stacks to be ordered descending, however, the default behaviour in Looker is to sort based on the values within that particular date. This means that the stacked elements jump around a lot and makes it hard to see consistent change. So my only options are either to have default sort and the stacks are not organised by volume at all:Or to have them stacked by volume and then the stacks can look chaotic:I know that there is a “hackaround” using derived ranking tables, but doing this for every chart and every view is a pain in the butt. I really feel like this is relatively simple and should be a chart setting, not something that requires building and joining yet another view (too many solutions to simple problems require a new view, which overcomplicates models, in my humble opinion, so I would like to
I have a requirement where I want to freeze the headers of my table (report) visualization ,as after a certain amount of data scroll I can’t see the headers and just able to see the data . I didn’t found any option to achieve that , Please let me know if there is any way to resolve this.
I have 6 looks in dashbaord and users want it to be delivered as pdf file. Now the height of the looks in dashboard can change based on number of rows/content wrap. Pdf export only displays visible rows not the complete look. Is there anyway to expand the height for the looks as fit to content so it always displays all rows without scroll bar?
I have a table visualization which is connected with different filters. When I apply a certain filter one of the column gives out only Null values in it.So is there a way my table viz could automatically hide that column when a filter is applied. For Example:Consider my table A:ID || Type || Value 1 A 102 B NULL3 B NULL4 A 15 If I filter this on type = “B”I will get this result ID || Type || Value 2 B NULL3 B NULL In this case I want to hide the value column. Is it possible in Looker ?
I created an explore to query system__activity-history to query look’s execution: model: system__activity view: history fields: history.source, look.id, look.title, history.created_time filters: history.created_date: last 30 days, history.source: look The problem is: why is the look data (id and title) returning nulls? The results source is always ‘look’ I’m running active Looks using Looker web interface, no apis, pure simple Look on Looker site I even saved this system__activity explore as a Look, and it will be listed as an execution, but look data is null as well Is the Look data stored in the system__activity unreliable? Even using very basic operations, the Look data is not being stored/shown
I regularly download data from a Look (Excel format, With visualization options applied, Formatted, All Results). In the last few days, rather than the expected data, this message is provided in the spreadsheet: Refusing to run query with no limit that Looker cannot stream incrementally. Please choose a smaller limit or remove table calculations.I’ve decreased the Row Limit from 500 to 250 to 100 to 25 to 24 (the exact number of data rows for a particular download), and still receive this message. Another data set had just one data row, and with a Row Limit of 1, still garnered this message. Is anyone else having this issue? What is occurring, and how do I fix it?Thank you!
Hello. I want to build a dashboard on looker to keep track of my SEO impressions, users, (etc.) by languages. My website is built like this:xxx.com/ => FR urlsxxx.com/en => EN urls (the homepage is .com/en and the other pages are .com/en/...)I would like to know what kind of filters or whatever should I use to create separate dashboards based on the URL structure (.com/ and .com/en), using different types of data (GSC, Analytics). I am sure there are formulas available however I can’t find themFor instance if I want to create a dashboard to keep track of SEO impressions I will select:data source: search console dimension: year month metric: for instance “impressions”And then create separate dashboards:one filtered on URLs starting with “xxx.com/” without the URLs starting with “xxx.com/en” one filtered on URLs starting with “xxx.com/en”Thanks
When creating a Look, I understand that I can hide a measure from a visualization. However, it seems that when I drill down on the visualization, the hidden measure seems to reappear in the visualization. Is there a way to keep a measure hidden from the visualization while drilling down? Essentially, I am trying to create grouped bar charts of various statistics (averages), but I want the end users to be able to see the total number of records in each row to give context.
Hi,I have a few question regarding looker studio. Is looker studio is suitable to create dashboard using real-time dataset? Can we create and save our own template? So, whenever we want to use that template, we can just click that template and insert our data. If we use data from excel file, how to refresh the dashboard/chart if there is new data updated in excel file? I have try click refresh data but it only worked if my data is coming from spreadsheet and it is not working if my data is coming from excel file. And one more thing, is there any auto refresh data button? Thank you in advance :)
Dear community, I am new to looker and am doing my best to become a pro and would love some advice! My data looks as follows (obvously significantly larger :> ): Employee ID Employment Start date Employment end date 1 15/12/2020 13/6/2021 2 18/6/2020 15/12/2020 3 15/5/2019 11/11/2019 4 10/4/2018 7/10/2018 5 15/12/2020 13/6/2021 6 11/11/2019 9/5/2020 7 15/12/2020 13/6/2021 I want to be able to build a time series charts which gives me the number of unique IDs that were inbetween employment start date and employment end date on a monthly basis and I want end users of the dashboard to be able to filter it for different time phrames. This means I have a selected data range on x-axis and on y-axis I get the number of unique employee ID´s for which in the given date the date is bigger or equal as employment start date but employer end date is not smaller (could be null) Could you please advise how to build this from abbove data? Thanks so much
Hello, I implemented some alerts on a Looker dashboard which send a message to a Slack channel if the conditions are met. The alerting is working and I receive the notification with a message. However, I don’t see the link of the dashboard on Slack which should be the case. Does anyone know what is happening? I think it might be a Looker bug (or even Slack bug.) Thanks. Kind regards,J

I created a dashboard with several Looks on it and added some filters. One of the charts doesn’t have any values when a specific value of filter is selected, but instead of simply showing that chart empty (which is confusing some users, making them think that was an error on that chart), I want to hide that chart when that value is selected on the filter. Is it possible to do that?
Hello everybody,Currently we have been trying to execute the z_test(data, value, stdev) function based on a bunch of data between test/control groups. What the documentation is lacking is a bit of description on how does each of this input need to be given:data - what data does it refer to? value - the hypothesized mean stdev - the standart deviationFor the last 2 inputs, I already have data. But which input should I give on data?
I'm making a report with data from a YouTube channel that has many playlists.I need to make the report by analyzing the video data from just one playlist on the channel. How do I do that? The problem is that when I connect Looker Studio to the Youtube data it gathers the information of the videos of all the channel's playlists.
Hey all! I’m trying to create a dashboard that mirrors some of what we have in Grafana. One particular chart shows all of our test results, with the y axis being the test title, and the x being date. A red bar appears for every failure, green for pass, etc. Is there any way to mirror something like this in Looker? I can get relatively close with the “timeline” chart type, but it’s not very customizable and can only show a very short date range. The chart in grafana looks like the below.
Hey all, Looking through the community, there is a lot to learn about Looker studio. I was hoping I could pick somebodies brains. I’m trying to filter a line chart to only display the last completed week. Currently, it shows the previous week, but also shows data for this week which is useless as it’s incomplete and just adds confusion to the chart (I’ll attach a picture). We’re currently in week 4, hence there isn’t complete data – I only need to review data from week 3 backwards. I’ve looked through the community, but can’t find an answer. It may be obvious through the interface, but I’ve had a look and can’t see it, it’s driving me bonkers! Thanks for your time. All the best, James
