Image (PNG/PDF) download says "Query Failed: Must query at least one dimension/measure"Knowledge Drop

Last tested: Aug 21, 2017 Image downloads are based on Production. It's is possible that you are in Development Mode.While in Dev Mode, you may have saved a Look or Explore and then you defined at least one dimension or measure, BUT, you have yet to deploy to production. Therefore, while in Dev Mode and without a deployment to production, your Looks do not yet exist and are not available to download as a PNG/PDF.This is usually fixed with deploying to production and then reattempting the download. Is development mode or production mode used for downloads and schedules?Knowledge Drop

Last tested: Dec 8, 2017 Production mode is always used for schedules. Production mode is also always used for rendered jobs (ie PNG/PDF downloads).For downloads that are not png or pdf, we use the mode that the user is in when they download. So, it is possible to export a CSV using dev mode results. But, if you're trying to download PNG or PDF, the resulting export will pull from Production.There is a feature request to use dev mode for PNGs/PDFs. This content is subject to limited support.

Why are my explore filters not getting added when I drill down on a measure?Knowledge Drop

Last tested: Sep 15, 2019 It is most likely because the measure may have filter defined, i.e it is a filtered measure. When you have a filtered measure AND you also have filters on the front end for the same measure, when we drill on this measure, it takes only the filtered measure and does not combine both the filters.Another reason could be because the filter is on a measure, which results in a HAVING clause. That HAVING clause only makes sense for the original query, so the drill query won't include the measure filter. This content is subject to limited support.

PDT rebuild error: `SQL Error in CREATE TABLE as SELECT: This connection has been closed`Knowledge Drop

Last tested: Nov 5, 2019 This is likely a timeout error.If the PDT is persisted with the persist_for parameter then this PDT can only be built by querying it via an explore/look/dashboard and the build is subject to Looker's 60 minute proxy timeout.If you have determined that this PDT is timing out due to Looker's proxy timeout, consider persisting using a sql_trigger_value instead. PDTs persisted with a sql_trigger_value are generally built by the regenerator and are not affected by Looker's 60 minute proxy timeout. This content is subject to limited support.

The solutionWe can accomplish this by using this function here:pivot_index(index(${number_of_sign_ups.count}, 1), row()) The explanationIndex(orders.count, 1) is specifying to return values from the 1st row, and pivot_index(X, row()) is saying that for each row that exists, return the value within the index function that corresponds to the pivoted column matching the row number.

Last tested: Jul 15, 2020 The Admin > Datagroups page displays the current datagroup value.If your Looker instance is self-hosted and you would like to check previous values, you can do so in the logs by running:grep 'UPDATE' looker.log | grep 'datagroupname' | grep 'trigger_value' Replace datagroupname with the name of the datagroup you're looking for.You can also see the trigger value in System Activity > PDT Event Log, but it only has data up to the pruning schedule, so only the past few days of data will be shown. Scheduler PrioritiesKnowledge Drop

Last tested: May 10, 2019 There are three types of schedule threads that determine schedule order:Scheduler jobs - default of 10 at a time Renderer jobs - default of 2 at a time Unlimited scheduler jobs - default of 3 at a timeThe scheduler, unlimited scheduler and renderer all have their own queue that is first-in first out. However, since the scheduler will need to wait on the renderer to finish for certain jobs (since the render stage is part of the execution of the schedule) there can be situations where render jobs back up before all 10 scheduler jobs back up, causing schedules to execute slightly out of order depending on the format. Unlimited jobs will have to wait for the previous unlimited job to complete.Separately, any one-time "Send" or "Test" will be given a higher priority than regularly scheduled jobs and will get to skip the line for whatever queue they are in. Currently, there is no way to change priority. This content is subject to limited support.

What is the differences between label and view_label?Knowledge Drop

Last Tested: May 10, 2018 The label attribute will change how the field is displayed when you explore it, or have it in a dashboard.The view_label attribute will change the view that references it. It's a really way to re-group things, especially if you've got a few different types of fact tables involved.For example if we have a LookML field user_facts.number_of_users:Giving it a "label" of 'count' will make it display as USER FACTS Count. Giving it a "view_label" of 'users' will make it display as USERS Number Of Users (and it'll also be grouped under users in the field picker) If you do both, you've got USERS Count You can find more information about this in this community article! Pivots will impact the Measure of `type: running_total`. In cases where a query is pivoted, running_total runs across the row instead of down the column.
