Check if you're using ._value vs ._rendered_value.
Looker isn't able to output a date in the fiscal format without string formatting. For example, Looker will generate SQL to return 2020-12 and then on the front end, turn it into a string like so: FY2020-Q4. If we use ._rendered_value, it'll grab the value after front-end formatting.
