Are you trying to send data from Looker to Slack? Can you see user names, but no Slack channels in the drop down menu? You've come to the right community article!

Troubleshooting:

Step 1: Make sure you're talking about Action Hub

Check this Sending Data from Looker with the Slack Attachment (API Token) Action link to verify you're on the same page

Step 2: Make sure you set up the action properly

Confirm you've followed all the steps here, specifically adding the permissions for channels:read, users:read, and files:write:user

Step 3: Make sure you added the action to the Slack channel

Have you added the app to the channel yet? You should see an add app to channel button in the settings cog dropdown in Slack

Step 4: If all else fails, re-add the bot to the workplace

Followed the steps. What I observe:

  • I can see the channels from Looker to which I manually added the bot to. But the bot should be in all public channels by default
  • I also see all users from Looker, but the bot should only post to channels. I see the list of users even after revoking the bot’s permission to users:read

So, what now?
