"Internal Server Error" when saving

Please add possible causes as you come across them in the comments!

  1. Check for ad blocker!
  2. Try incognito mode or a different browser- this will pinpoint extensions as the culprit.
  3. Syntax error in LookML also causes this issue sometimes ( such as json format error/ the issue with dimension etc..)

I also was just experiencing this. I had a particularly long view and any attempt to add more characters caused me to get a 403 and an “Internal Server Error.” My devops team were able to establish that this was because we used “AWS WAF” for security and there is a rule called

AWS#AWSManagedRulesCommonRuleSet#SizeRestrictions_BODY

They were able to add a restriction that bypassed this and stopped me from getting the 403. Just in case others experience this
