Grouping

I have a report that list students employed and their employers.  I would like to group by the employer and then count the students who are employed there.  I don’t see a way to do this?  Is it possible?

Hi Kerr,

There are a few ways you can achieve this:

(1) Add the count of students as a measure in LookML (the recommended approach) - this will require developer access as it is done in the underlying data model. If you reach out to someone in the data team, they might be able to help fairly quickly.

(2) Create a custom measure on the explore - this will require explore access and for custom fields to be enabled on your instance; this is not as recommended as the calculation will only be available on this one visualisation, so other people won’t be able to re-use it.

Hope this helps!

How do I reach out to the data team or the developers to put in a request?

Hi Kerr,

That would be a team within your company who looks after the data that goes into Looker.

Unfortunately it is not something I can help with.
