Database Limits

Hello,

My client is currently using Amazon Athena for the database connection to Looker. Currently I have created for a couple views some SQL calls to the tables that are standard select statements which each hold 1,000,000 records, for example:

select * from table_1

I know that Looker has a 5,000 record limitation for Explores embedded and that this limit is capped at 100,000 when you download information per https://docs.looker.com/sharing-and-publishing/downloading.

My question is since the SQL in my view has no limit statement in it and has 1,000,000 records, does this mean that when I build build an Explore that is derived from this view and add it to a dashboard and run that dashboard, will Looker pull all 1,000,000 records? Or will it only pull 5,000?
