PDTs are great for Looker users, but our heavy data users/early company employees/founders are married to their own SQL queries where they can do all kinds of crazy ad-hoc reporting. Since PDTs are stored with a hashed names in our database, those users can’t reference Looker’s PDTs. The same people are worried that building out PDTs in Looker instead of our database makes us more dependent on Looker. Therefore, the executive team has mandated that we either do not hash the PDT names anymore or move all PDTs out of Looker and into our database. Maintaining PDTs in Looker is easier for me. Can anyone help me figure out how I can go with solution 1? Thanks, Lucas
I am thinking about getting a commercial ETL tool. We have a bunch of data sources (Facebook, Salesforce, NetSuite etc.). They are important and right now we have jobs scheduled in all kinds of places that are owned by multiple employees. In an effort to operationalize this, I am looking at some ETL tools. Do you guys have any recommendations? Does anyone know of “the Looker of ETL tools?” Thanks, Lucas
If you are a Looker user/analyst/admin, you are probably also always on the lookout for opportunities to improve your own skill set. What are some conferences you have found very valuable and would recommend attending? Please let me know if the conference was focused on a) DBAs b) bigdata/data scientists c) analysts d) product managers e) other or where in that spectrum the conference fit in. Thanks, Lucas
