Sql_always_where in Explore when using Templated filter

Hi,

For a Dashboard requirement , i had to create a templated filter and write an sql_always_where filter in the explore. My Question is would be impact my other dashboards or looks based on this filter which are using the same explore. Would it work better if I created a new explore just for this? Or is there any other solution which would help me to solve the issue with out impacting other looks.

The reason i went with a templated filter is because when ever a date is given in my dashboard i want the look to bring back values for the previous 3 months to that date.
