About This Block

The Adobe Site Catalyst Block is based on a FTP extract of event level Site Catalyst data from Catalyst DWH. Reach out to your Adobe contacts to obtain this data if you are a Site Catalyst customer.

Obtaining access to event level data from Site Catalyst enables granular and customized analytics via Looker for your website. The block provides the basis for metrics including

  • Site Traffic: Daily Active Users, Event Counts, Visit Counts

  • User Retention: Bounce rate, New vs. Returning Users

  • Visit Engagement: Duration of Visit, Average Visit Duration

You can slice and segment these metrics based on any of the information you capture in Site Catalyst and modify for your use case.

Ideal Data Types

The data extract from DWH is at the event level. A method of creating visit level metrics is captured in a Persistent Derived Table called sessions.

How to implement this block

The LookML for this block can be found in this Github repo. You can either download the entire block into your Looker application by following the directions outlined here, or selectively migrate pieces of the block by simply copying + pasting the block LookML into your Looker instance.

If you don’t have a Github account, we encourage you to create one for easy access to this block. If you don’t have access to the repo, or cannot make a Github account, please contact a Looker Analyst or email blocks@looker.com and we’d be happy to help.

Is this using Adobe Clickstream data? Also, does it require that this data already be loaded into a database that Looker can access? Was not clear if Looker is handling all the upfront aspects with the data integration with Adobe ( ETL, storage…). Thanks in advance for clarifying.

Hi @Thomas_Spicer,

Here, we are using data from Site Catalyst from the Catalyst DWH. And yes, the data will have to be loaded into a DB that Looker then makes a connection to. Let us know if you have anymore questions!
