Explore not available in development mode

Hello. I’m new to Looker. I’m trying to create my first model. I’ve switched to Development Mode and I’ve created a new view (I’ve used the code shared by a colleague to make sure it’s working). However I’m not able to explore this new view I’m creating. I’ve been watching a couple of videos and it seems that when in development, when creating a new view you can click the drop down menu at the top of your IDE and get the explore option however I’m not able to see this option. 

I’m probably missing something obvious here...

Have you defined your explore in model file?
