Conversion fail when generating LookML view from table

When trying to create views in Looker from a table (located in BigQuery), i sometimes get this error and the lookML of the view is not correctly generated.

#X# Conversion failed: failed to parse YAML.  Check for pipes on newlines

Anybody has had similar problems?

A workaround for me is now manually writing the LookML for the view, but that’s a time consuming task for code that could be auto-generated

I’m having the same issue. I think for me at least it has to do with column description in BigQuery for structs.

When I try generating the view from the table after removing the column descriptions it’s not an issue. I think  the new feature for generating field descriptions from the BigQuery descriptions (added in release 21.4) could have something to do with it.

Hi @mathias_luyten and @Avi1, Thanks for the post! I see a similar report internally. @Avi1 is spot on in regard to the description being the cause.

Would you be able to tell me which version/patch on 21.4 you are using please? It appears this should be resolved in the latest build.

Should we manually update to a newer version?
