Clause in LEFT JOIN rather than WHERE

Following a Community post from 2015, this can be done by using a filter (not dimension) and then ‘passing it’ to dimension in the LEFT JOIN using {% condition %} . . . {% endcondition %}.

It seems quite involved for such a common requirement when writing SQL queries?

Then make the dimension visible but with can_filter = no. To the user of the explore, it looks like the dimension appears twice - once via the filter, and again as the usual dimension?
