As a parameter in lookml dashboard code?
Hi Chaofliu!
Answer: Yep
You should be able to move the lookML dashboard folder if you have the right permissions in your looker account (For instance: Admin)
Please check the following URL :
I suggest performing a double check to confirm the change is made in production mode.
This looker feature was released in 2022 , previous looker posts to this year mentions that this feature is not available 😁 https://docs.looker.com/relnotes#organize_lookml_dashboards_in_folders

Hi Leo, thanks for the kindly reply.
two questions:
1. could we do the moving by looker API?
- could we choose which folder firstly when the LookML dashboard is created? instead of move it after it is created in the LookML folder. Like I said , a parameter in LookML dashboard file “folder: /dwqdddqw” will be more convienent.~
Hi Chaofliu!
There is a beta version of the API Method (May 22) which moves “Dashboards” and “LookML dashboards”. You will need to pass the model::dashboard_name style id for the dashboard.
You can also move back to the LookML Dashboards folder by using lookML as the folder id.
URL of doc : Move Dashboard - API
For instance:

You can test this method directly in Looker - API Explorer
Regarding the Looker UI, you should be able to move it in production mode:

Have a nice week!
Best,
Leo
