Relationship between looker dashboard, explore and view

Hi Looker expert friends,

We are doing API integration with Looker. 

There are two things I’m confused, any help on the issues will be so helpful!

1. Do we get lookML dashboard from the API? When I read online, people are saying the user defined dashboards and lookML dashboards are handled differently, and from the API, I couldn’t get the lookML dashboards. But I do see the lookML dashboards. I’d really appreciate any document on this!
2. In the lookML project, when we define elements in the dashboard, the source’s usually explore. But when I calls the api `dashboard`, the dashboard would have filters on looker view directly. Could anyone help me understand the relationships between all these componenets?
