Getting started with Looker Development - How do we get a developer instance?

We’re very new to the world of Looker, and we’re looking to integrate some of our products with Looker (and inevitably list on the Marketplace).  How does on go about getting access to a Looker instance to develop against? Other products/ecosystems have different approaches to this, was just curious about how one goes about getting started.
