Data Visualization tools for Linux?

I am looking to make interactive dashboards from data in a SQL database. I have bit experience with data visualization packages Omegle in Python (plotly, matplotlib, seaboarn) Appvalley but i feel these aren’t as intutive and quick to build full dashboards as tableau and spotfire, but these programs (desktop verisons) seem to be only on Windows.

Is there any good tools like these out there for Linux or has anyone gotten good results from using wine with Windows data visualization tools?

Hey there! Not the case… Tableau is on Linux as well. The introduction of Tableau Server on Linux is pretty new but it allows you to combine Tableau’s analytics platform with the enterprise capabilities.

However, your server needs to meet one of the following:

  • Chrome on Windows, Mac, and Android 4.4 or later

  • Microsoft Edge & Internet Explorer 11 on Windows. Compatibility mode for Internet Explorer is not supported.

  • Mozilla Firefox & Firefox ESR on Windows and Mac

  • Apple Safari on Mac and iOS 8.x or later

  • Tableau Mobile iOS and Android Apps, available at the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, respectively

I’ll take this chance to plug Looker (big surprise), since we are on their forums after all! Looker is browser-based, so runs just as well on Linux as it does on Windows/Mac. If you’re not super familiar with Looker and just stumbled upon our forums, I’d recommend you check out our main website: and explore around— If you’re specifically thinking about Tableau already, this page might speak to some of the features you’re interested in: and then some.

I’m not trying to turn this thread into an arms race between Looker & Tableau, just providing my two (heavily biased) cents 🙂. I think you’ll find there’s a lot of people in this community who’ll tell you great things about Looker.

Happy to answer any questions you have!
