DB Connection types in looker

Hi Team,

I am I am very much new to looker and we are in process of migrating from Tableau to Looker. I would like to know whether looker supports extract connection like we have in Tableau.

Basically most of our dashboards pulls data from DB, so once we pull the data say last 6 months into looker we would like to play with it and whenever we change date filter within that 6 months looker should not run the query/pull the data again from DB but it should use the extracted data.

We would like to schedule the refresh of data once per day.

Can any confirm if the above  features are available in looker.

Hello,

Looker differs drastically from Tableau as it is designed to be an in database data platform, so no extract is possible.

You can of course play with caching strategy, aggregate tables to go very far into the load optimization on your DB ensuring both freshness and efficiency goals 😉
