Does Looker work with Gmail SMTP Relay?

I tried setting up custom mail settings using Gmail’s SMTP Relay (with server `smtp-relay.gmail.com`) and sending test email always returns authentication error. There’s no errors logged from Gmail’s side so it looks like Looker doesn’t even attempt to authenticate (or it fails before it hits Gmail’s authentication).

I can get it to work with `smtp.gmail.com` but we’d like to use relay. Is this possible on Looker?

I contacted Looker Support and they don’t seem to know.
