Drive for Desktop on MacOS not opening Sheets/Docs via shortcut.

I am having an issue where I can open Sheets/Docs located in My Drive via the Finder but not when it is a shortcut to a Sheet/Doc located elsewhere in My Drive or a Shared Drive. This is happening on two different machines running version 49.0.9.0 (Apple Silicon).

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I can't say I have ever tried this before, we don't have a very large Mac fleet and shortcut usage is generally reserved for folders rather than specific files. Have you contacted Google Support to see if they can replicate this issue?

I will see if I can find some time to test this workflow on a Mac and see if I can replicate what you describe.

I can confirm that I am experiencing the same behaviour on MacOS. Google Docs that are saved as shortcuts wont open on MacOS. I double click on a non shortcut Google Doc and it will open in Safari, I double click on shortcut Google Doc and looks as though it tries to open something but nothing appears.

I will try to log a support call with Google at my end too and see what they say.
