Assign ring group number to number already assigned to autoattendant

Hello, in google voice we set up an autoattendant number but would now like to assign this number to a ring group instead. Is this possible?

Are you running into a specific error? I thought you could unassign the number from your auto attendant and then give it a new number. At which point you could assign the number to a ring group.

We did this a couple years ago to move our main number to a ring group which then overflows to a main auto attendant if unanswered by ring group members. We have given everyone permission to dial out from the ring group so they can utilize the main office number for outbound calls when needed.
