Why doesn't Looker data studio dropdown control filter immediately instead of having to click outside the dropdown?

The dropdown list control filter used to filter immediately vs having to click somewhere outside the filter dropdown to show any filter effect. In otherwords, you could check one dropdown item, see the filtered list, click another filter, see the effect of the combined filters, and so on. If you use the Fixed Size List instead of the Dropdown List, the filter works as before and as desired. Is there a way to get the Dropdown Filter control to work like the filtering for the Fixed List Filter control like it used to?

I am having the same problem and can't seem to find any info on it. Have you found any info on this problem since your post? This is especially tacky. So much so I might have to find a different software solution.

This issue is significant pain point in every User Acceptance session that I conduct.  This behavior is unexpected and drives users crazy.
