Filtering on Table Calculations

I’m sure there is a technical or performance reason I’m overlooking but why doesn’t Looker allow filtering on Table Calculations?

What workarounds are there other than exporting the data to sheets?

Hi @jimmy_bujold-16, as I’ve always understood it Looker doesn’t allow filtering on table calculations because table calcs are computed post-query. Table calcs are not run against your database but on the returned data, whereas filters are run against your database. As for alternatives, the table calc could be added as a LookML measure, or as a Custom Field (although, still quite a few limitations here). Depending on your use case, there’s also this workaround for hiding “no’s” from visualizations.

@Laura_McKinley thanks for the reply! That makes sense that the table calc is post-query so filtering is limited. We’re trying to filter on a range of integers so the workaround wouldn’t work. But we can add a measure based on a new field added to our database.
