Hello Learning Enthusiasts,

Welcome to the Q1 Learning & Certification Hub newsletter! In this issue, we’ll be sharing lots of information about new opportunities to learn - and connect with fellow learners - both virtually, and in person. One of the events I’m most excited for is the Preparing for the Professional Data Engineer webinar - we’ve already held similar events for the Professional Cloud Architect and Professional Workspace Administrator exams (the recordings are available on-demand ️). We’ve been talking about the career benefits of certification for a while, and we know that recent news about increased layoffs in the tech sector may be making you ponder how to stay current, relatable, and valuable in an ever-changing and competitive market. Proving your expertise in high demand areas goes a long way, and we have focused on that in our Grow Your Career segment in the News & Updates section below.

DEI Spotlight

What is DEI?

We got several responses to our inaugural newsletter expressing curiosity about DEI, and thought it would be helpful to give a brief overview of what it means, and why we think it’s important.

DEI, sometimes referred to as DE&I, stands for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. DEI has been a hot topic in the technology industry for a while now, and for good reason: the more we advance technologically, the more connected we are globally. When we create a conversation where every voice is heard, we have endless opportunities to innovate for a more inclusive future - - as featured in this video

How does all of this relate to learning? I’m so glad you asked 🙂 This time, I’ll highlight two specific ways in which DEI and the learning community go hand in hand.

The first is opportunity. Technology, particularly cloud technology, is evolving rapidly, and our learning paths are designed to help you stay up to date on the latest developments. We use skill badges and certifications to help you show the world (and potential employers) that you have the skillset, regardless of the rest of your resume.

The second is how you learn. We offer learning content in a variety of delivery methods because everyone has a unique learning style: some learners thrive in an instructor-led class, while others prefer to study at their own pace. Some folks love the thrill of a learning challenge to motivate them through competition, whereas others feel encouraged by being part of a cohort who are on the same learning path. There is no one way to knowledge, and it’s amazing to see the different paths you’re all taking to success!

We’d love to hear more from you - is there an aspect of learning that you think benefits from DEI that we didn’t mention? Are you thinking differently about the way in which you’ve been consuming learning content? Sound off in the comments, and let us know if you’d like to know more about different learning styles (or anything else)!
