Count Number of VISIBLE Rows in a Table
I am working with a table where I used multiple yes/no formulas to hide specific rows. Now that those rows are hidden, I would like the number of rows that remain as a Single Value for my Dashboard. Is there a way to get the table to count only the VISIBLE rows? Thank you! Sarah
Help with counting totals
Hi, I have some problems with some data I would like to put in a visualization. For example, I have the following: Orders Cancel Reason SATURATION COURIER_NOT_ASSIGNED NO_PAYMENT SATURATION SATURATION NO_PAYMENT I would like to get the following: Orders Cancel Reason Count SATURATION 3 NO_PAYMENT 2 COURIER_NOT_ASSIGNED 1 I have tried to solve this but I just started using Looker so I have some problems with this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Filters with no data generate unnecessary joins
My Looker setup contains dashboards that have many filters (usually between 6-10) in order to enable self-serve analytics reporting for my users (so that they may optionally filter by date, user name, browser, etc.) – this means most of these filters are often unused for any particular query, but any individual filter could be required due to the “long tail” of reporting that needs to be handled. I have come across an interesting wrinkle that is hindering query performance across the board – namely, that setting a join-dependent filter with no query data will generate SQL that performs the join required for that filter. This results in unnecessary joins that hinder performance. In the below screenshot, I am Exploring the Visit view (which directly mirrors an underlying redshift table), which can join on the Client, Country, and Users tables. I have set up filters from these joined tables, but not yet entered any query data to filter on. The Look-ML generated SQL contains joins on these
Excluding the first row in a table of time series data
Hi all, I have a table of time series data tracking visits to a website, I have added calculated fields to track the standard deviation in variance between visits today and expected visits, in order to flag outliers in the data. This is working well, but I have an issue where my most recent row (the most recent 5 minutes), is often flagged as an outlier due to having incomplete data. I’d like to exclude the most recent row from my data, however in my current setup I am only showing the most recent row in my visualization, which is the yes/no outlier indicator that my email schedule is based on. Can anyone suggest a way I can hide the most recent row? As you can see I’ve tried adding a calculated field to highlight it, but due to this being a calculated field I can’t filter out the row. Ben
How to hide certain filter on drill down table?
In order to show the chart with the order date “Jan 2018, Feb 2018, …, Dec 2018” on X-axis of the chart , I have hidden column with the value 2018-01, 2018-02, …, 2018-12 along side with the column “Jan 2018, Feb 2018, …, Dec 2018”, it works well, however once clicked the chart for the drill down, both columns are showed as filters at the top of the drill dow, for example: column-1: 2018-01, column-2: Jan 2018", how can I hide the column-1 to keep showing on the drill down.
Row Total on underlying Data Set from Measure
Hi there, My goal is to have a measure, specifically an average, calculate across the entire underlying data set per row when I have pivoted columns. I can achieve this result if I check “Row Totals”. Additionally, I can do this with sum and pivot_row for number measures. However, I would like to add additional customization if needed so I need this in a table calc. Below is an example screenshot. Any thoughts?
Dual axes needed for visualization with two measures and pivot
I am using Looker 3.46. I am trying to create a visualization with 2 axes, one for transaction count the other for transaction response time, both charted over time. The data includes a pivot on transaction type which I would like to display as multiple series. However, I am not able to turn off the Combine Axes feature. An informational message is displayed, " Must combine axes when using both pivots and multiple measures" when I examine that setting. As you can imagine, the scales for transaction count and transaction response time are vastly different and make no sense when combined. Is there another way to achieve what I am trying to do or can an enhancement be made to allow multiple axes when there are 2 measures?
Chromium 64+ must be installed
Following the instructions here https://docs.looker.com/setup-and-management/on-prem-install/on-prem-labs; “Installing Software to Run Looker Labs Features” I have installed both PhantomJS and Chromium. However when I goto the Labs section to enable the Enhanced Rendering feature I get the following message. In the terminal when I check the installed version “chromium --version” I get the following “Chromium 69.0.3497.81 Built on Ubuntu , running on Ubuntu 18.04” Any help would be appreciated. Paul
Changing axis value labels and dashboard tile titles
Hey. I have a dashboard of the number of Salesforce cases tied to specific employees shown as a bar chart. The value labels along the axis are the employees names - is there a way to make these names bigger or are we stuck with the default format? Additionally, I would like to change the font color of the titles within tiles on a dashboard. By default they are gray on a white background and some of my coworkers have trouble reading them. Is there a way to do this?
Limit in Downloading and Scheduling in LookML Dashboard
I would like to download or schedule all results from the LookML dashboard. I did not define the row limit value in Query Parameters of the dashboard. When the dashboard is downloaded or scheduled, I am just getting 1000 records. The dashboard may return 100000+ records. How can I get all the results of the dashboard? Looker release version:Release 5.8.6 Thank for your help in advance.
Prevent Multiple Results in rows
I have a dataset in which I need to calculate the monthly average using the daily counts. So I need to include both the field for the date, and the month (I am not a developer so can’t change these options) So after a complicated calculation, I have yielded the right results, but I only want a to view monthly, but there are as many rows as are days. Is there any way to fix this visualization? The data set looks like this: The visualization is reflecting this: Rather than the number of rows equivalent to days, I just want 12 rows to display the months, if that makes sense. Any ideas?
How to change the layering of mixed type visualizations
You can create visualizations with multiple chart types by using Series Types. Read how to use Series Types here. Changing the Arrangement When you create a mixed type visualization, the chart types will be arranged by the order their respective measures are displayed in the table. From left-to-right will be top-to-bottom. For example, this Look displays with the Orders Count columns in the front: But if I want the Orders First Purchase Count line to appear in front, I can switch the order of the measures like so:
A chart per record?
Hey! Sorry if this is a n00b question… I’m just getting started with Dashboards and Reports. Is it possible to generate a series of charts at runtime (multiple charts, not multiple series in one chart)? I can generate the data as two queries (Query A gives me a list of ID’s, Query B is run multiple times with the ID as a filter - one chart for each ID) or as a single query (IDs and series data in one query, but the results would then be separated into a chart per ID)? A use case for this would be: We have 5000 stores. We want a dashboard or report that will show us a chart of the daily sales values for each of the top 20 stores by their most recent monthly total (a chart per store). Each month the set of stores would change, so we couldn’t use fixed criteria in 20 separate looks
Formating Column & Line Chart
I’m attempting to create a column & line chart with column on left-hand y-axis and line on right-hand y-axis. However, now my columns have no space or break between them and my line is hidden behind the bars. In addition, I want to make a reference line based on the second right-hand y-axis. How???
How to create a custom dimension on even/odd numbers
Hi, This is a typical Friday afternoon idea. I am trying to do a “random” segmentation on user id to create two groups and I would like to have all even user id’s in group 1 and the odd user id’s in group 2. Does anyone have a smart solution to do this? 🙂 Have a nice weekend. Best, Luc
Edit Table Calculation
Actually, I am trying to create some table calculation but stuck at a point and its very very urgent for me, when i tried to save the formula then i can see the error message “Field “hr_spain_hotel_table_1.total_los_den” is not in the current query” as i am new in this so as per me i have checked all the steps but didn’t get any solution so please help me out to get it done ASAP and if possible then share the steps so that i can check it.
Tooltip doesn't track mouse well
Hi Looker! I’m trying to determine whether this is a browser issue or something else I’m doing wrong… I find that the tooltip feature on a line chart, for instance, doesn’t track where my mouse is. It tends to get locked on a datapoint at the bottom and then not update when I hover directly over another point. I’m happy to help troubleshoot if the issue isn’t prevalent.
Calculating Distance and Bearing from a Location entered into a filter
I have a table containing entity locations across the United States and I have a location filter that will allow me to find any entity within X miles from an a given point. I was hoping to create calculated fields which contain the distance and bearing from the location entered into the filter. Is this possible?
