Exploring & curating data
Dashboards, Looks, Visualizations— it all happens here
Hello, I’ve to show data on a map with a 96 hour history shown by an interactive slider. When you scroll the slider from left to right the data on the map changes. Is there functionality in looker to do this? I’m new to this so seeking some help advice from the community.see picture below
I want to achieve something like the `Customizations` area of the regular looker line chart but for one of my custom visualizationsFor each series that’s getting rendered I want to have specific options like color and formatting and so on specific to my custom vis, but reading this documentation I could not figure out how to dynamically add an extra submenu of options to showI’m guessing it’s on create or update, but how do I even create a submenu using the options object?
Hi all, I have been stuck on this for longer than I would like. I have a table with various dimensions. One dimension lists names. The names are repeated sometimes. Another dimension provides a number for each name. The corresponding number for each iteration of a name may be different. I want to take a sum of the numbers for each name. But I’m not sure how. Something like this.
The ability to use the legacy drill behavior is removed starting in Looker 4.22. Looker allows users to “drill” into certain cells of a data table, to see more information about the elements that comprise that cell. As of Looker 3.42, Looker shows the results of a drill in a pop-up window instead of bringing users to the Explore page. This way users don’t lose context, and can quickly go back to their original work if desired. However, if they do want to explore the drill data, they can easily click on a button to do so. Old Behavior Drills go directly to the Explore page. New Behavior Drills go to a pop-up first, and then users can choose to explore the data if they like.
I have a simple query where I removed the 500 row limit:In the screenshot above you can see 1972 data points. Then I add it to a New Dashboard and: As you can see, the amount of data points and x-axis decreased to only 1000. No way to change this limit.. Huuuuge bug!
Hi , As we have customer worldwide and want to use map_layer_name to show in Map, but here as instructed for US need to use map layer name “us_zipcode_tabulation_areas” and for UK have map_layer_name “uk_postcode_areas” , so how to use this while showing world wide data , and secondly what about other countries, N.B.: We do not have lat long available .
Hi everyone,Brand new here, so forgive me if I do this wrong. Just point me in the right direction. My software vendor, EnterpriseRx, is using Looker for their new reporting platform and I need to learn how to use it to build custom reports. I don’t get how to create a report that will provide me with the grand total of prescriptions filled on a given day. I can create the report to list all the individual prescriptions. But don’t know how to make it sum them up and then provide the grand total as the visualization. Any thoughts?
Hi, I currently am making a line graph comparing a measure by hours over the last 7 days. I want only the line for the current date to be a certain color, and any of the lines for the previous days to remain gray. However, if I refresh it, it keeps the previous day as the color and creates a new color for the current day. Any way to fix this?
We have two time filters one for event time and one for user start time. Is it possible to have user update one of the time filters and the other time filter is set to the same time range?
We have two time filters one for event time and one for user start time. Is it possible to have user update one of the time filters and the other time filter is set to the same time range? i.e. user updates the event time range in the filters section of the dashboard and this will then update the user start time filter as well, so they dont have to input the same time range in both of the time filters?
I would like to have a choice to fill only dates in the past rather than for the whole timeframe. I have to filters:date before tomorrowyear in the last 1 year To try to limit the data to current year but without tomorrow (in case there’s any future data). But filling the dates happen in the client-side layer, which means it’s not affected by the WHERE clause. I will rework my explore to not have gaps in dates but thought this would be a handy feature
I am looking for the equivalent to what I know as a level of detail expression in Tableau. Here is a small sample dataset listing a child’s age, favorite sport at a given age, and the given age: NAME - SPORT - AGEAdam - Soccer - 15Adam - Baseball - 14Adam - Hockey - 13Billy - Baseball - 10Billy - Soccer - 9 Based on the data above, Adam’s most recent favorite sport is Soccer and Billy’s is Baseball. How can I filter table results to show only the record containing each child’s most recent favorite sport (based on the maximum value of the AGE field for each NAME field). My goal is to get a table with data similar to the following: NAME - SPORT - AGEAdam - Soccer - 15Billy - Baseball - 10
Hi, I have noticed that a topojson that I am using for map_layer in Looker does not show correctly in interactive map. Some polygons are showing in conjunction with some random others as if the arc indices are mixed up. I validated my topojson by rendering it locally on d3 and it looked fine. Has anyone else experienced something similar?

I am making a report using table-next which lists each store as a row and then each column is the per period sales for the last 3 periods plus the sales the same period last year. There is also a table calculation which generates a delta between the sales in each comparable period. This is what the report should look like:This is what the Data - Results section looks like: The raw data in our database table looks like this:Sale_ID, Store_ID, Sale_Amount, Period_Number, Fiscal_Year_Number. Where each row represents an individual sale. The issue I am running into is that as time progresses and we enter a new time period the report breaks and the order of the columns is no longer correct. When a new period is introduced to the report It becomes something like this: Two things appear to be happening. One; new columns are not appearing to re-order (period 10 should be on the far left but isnt). Two; The “delta” Table Calculations columns are no longer lined up with the associated period c
