number to string custom dimension?

new to looker and migrating reports from oracle bi and a whole new learning experience...

I have a numeric field that is displayed as 1,234,567 in the results pane of a look.

In the visualization pane i can add a custom format to remove the commas but how to do in the results pane?

I thought just converting to a string would be simplest but cannot see any functions to do this?

Any other options?
