Is there a standard way to do histograms in Looker?

Wondering what best practices are from others who have built histograms in Looker.

Looker doesn’t auto fill in a range so that you have the outer bounds. To do histograms we build a “bins” table as a base view and then join the data we want to the bin as a value table. Then y is a measure of the value table. We use a where conditional to set the range of the x dimension. This is still wonky if the x range is dynamic but we make it work.
