Schedule is still delivering eventhough I deletd those schedules from the dashbaord

Hi, I am using Looker version 4.14. I initially created 5 schedules with different filters on one looker dashbaord. Early this week I deleted those schedules, so there is no schedules available (as I cannot see schedule sign next to the dashbaord name in the space, or show up under schedule under gear icon). But today those 5 schedules got delivered to the users eventhoug they are not there. Is it the issue with scheduleing in Looker? I only seen them in history as those completed but not under the plan or at the dashbaord level.

Dashboard Filter - Dropdown only working for Admins with Manage Model access

Hello, The dropdown filter does not work for regular users but works fine for Admin users or any user with “manage_models” permission turned… Is there something I am missing? I don’t understand why users without manage models can not use the drop down. A little background info… So originally the drop downs filter were taking far too long to load since it was an intensive query. so I devised a workaround and created a new dictionary view in SQL that would load quickly and created the Looker view. So the dashboard filter is coming off this dictionary table that loads right up. Then this filter is just applied to the model. Everything worked as planned… Now I’m testing on users that are not “Admins” with ‘mange_model’ access and the drop down isn’t working. Nothing comes up. Is there some additional step I need to take? Is there a way that Looker will not put order by in SQL and just in visulization?

Need to see if is there a option to avoid order by in SQL but in display it still have it. Reason is, we have 6 looks on the dashboard with same dimensions and measures, only different is order by field. Becasu of order by field only Looker run 6 queries in place of one, which is affecting performacne of the dashbaord. If somehow we can remove order by from teh SQL then the sql for all 6 looks will be the same and it will run only one SQL. Is it makes sense 🙂

Custom TopoJSON for 2014 Core Based Statistical Areas (CBSA)

I created a custom TopoJSON map of 2014 US CBSAs as defined by the U.S. Census Bureau for anyone to reuse. Simply copy the URL below to the ‘TopoJSON URL’ field in the editor window as shown in the screenshot below. Make sure you have selected ‘Static Map Regions’ in the visualization pane and not the default map icon. https://cdn.rawgit.com/anneching/bb4982bbc63966e63bdd/raw/87b1986b1b9e0a9547fbb60b4c609932f6ddc148/cbsa_us_2014_ex_hi_ak.json The map should render in your browser as long as the field in your query contains CBSA or MSA (Metropolitan Statistical Area) codes. This TopoJSON file excludes Hawaii and Alaska. If you need a custom map that includes HI, AK and US territories, you can use other custom TopoJSON files I created in a public Gist on Github here. You will have to copy the raw Gist URL to rawgit in order to host the TopoJSON file. Then simply copy the production URL into the ‘TopoJSON URL’ field in Looker. Can looker display charts when remote database connection is closed?

More specifically, can query results be cached on looker server, so that if the remote database connection is lost, user still can display charts/results using the data cached without having to run queries against remote databases?

Using Markdown in Text for User Training

FYI - we’re now using the new markdown capability to embed training video links directly on dashboards. Responsive UI doesn't have consistent behavior

I’m building out a set of dashboards, and the UI between all of them isn’t behaving similarly. The latest shows a set of cards with single values, but the cards are showing: a) fonts that are smaller than would be expected for the space allotted b) the cards show sizes that are different than one another, creating inconsistencies. Screenshot below. Do I have any control over the way it responds? If not, is this a platform bug?

Why does Copy Dashboard in same space sometimes copy looks, sometimes not?

We’re on version 4.14 - I like the UI improvements. However, I ran into something odd this morning when I tried to copy a dashboard within a user space (so that there would be two versions of the same dashboard - we wanted to apply different default filters for the two cases). The dashboard consisted of 4 panels - 2 chart Looks, 1 table Look, and 1 text panel. After the copy (not to a new space, within the same space) both of the chart Looks had been copied (with “title (copy)” as the new title) but the copied dashboard was still pointing to the same table Look. I would have actually preferred not to have any (copy) Looks at all; perhaps that should be an option in the copy UI? Anyway, it was definitely confusing having some copied and some not! When I tried making yet another copy, once again the 2 chart Looks were copied (and now had “title (copy 2)”) and not the table Look. Arthur

Looker estimates for Google BigQuery not showing correct size while doing pivot

Hi, I am using Database: Google BigQuery SQL: Standard SQL Looker Version: 4.10.11 Looker estimates for query data processing almost doubles when we move object to pivot fields. But same pivot query shows same estimate in google bigquery UI. So does Looker runs same amount of data displays in Google BQ UI or it will run what’s display in Looker estimates? For regular look without pivot shows lets say 353 GB, with Pivot it shows 706 GB. If I put same looker pivot query SQL in Google BigQuery UI, it displays 353 GB only.

Looker Reporting Query Help Needed

I need to create report based on this data. I need to get the used size on a day based on the maximum time stamp for that day.Also get the daily average rate of increase on used size. How can i frame the query and built report in Looker.I tried using sub string function to split the time stamp but did not work as i have group by based on date field. Need help to understand, how to add markdown tags/rendering links in dashboard text (4.12)

Hi, We recently upgraded to 4.12 but not showing nay option for following 4.12 feature. If you have any documents or sample for this feature that will be grate. Dashboard Text elements now accept certain Markdown tags for formatting and rendering links.

The x axis should be date and y axis the latest space utilization on that.
