The following article (Show Comparison: https://docs.looker.com/exploring-data/visualizing-query-results/single-value-options) shows an example of progress bar in a single value chart using a table calculation. However, there doesn’t appear to be any documentation on how to setup the calculation for the monthly target. In my attempt to add a number via the calculation, Looker places the new calculation in front of the measure (with no ability to move it) which prevents the comparison option from working. Thanks… Tom
Many times having a single dashboard displayed on a TV just isn’t enough data! Sometimes teams want to look at multiple dashboards, and you’d like to cycle through these prominent team dashboards in a single browser on a TV displayed in the office. By leveraging our private dashboard embed functionality, and a Google Chrome plugin called ‘Revolver’, you can do exactly that. Here’s how: On the computer powering the TV dashboards, open a new Chrome window and open all the dashboards you want to circulate on the TV, each in a new tab. Be sure to use the private embed functionality /embed/ in the URL so the dashboards are only visible without the tool navigation on the left-hand side. More info on that, here. That’ll make your dashboards appear like this: Next, install the Google Chrome App, Revolver. Once Revolver is installed, you can right click the Revolver icon in the browser, then click ‘options’ to set your Revolver settings, or, how long you want each dashboard to be cycled on
Hello, Let’s say I have a simple look in a pivot table that is showing a number of products bought each month by both males and females. Also, in the same table, I have another metric showing average amount spent by again by month and by gender. Is it possible to create 2 visualisations, one that will show number of products both in each month by males as well as females and then another visualization that will show an average amount spent each month by males and females. I made up the example in order to simplify it but I basically have a pivot look with 6 or 7 measures (some of which are calculations) and if I put all that in a single visualization it’s overwhelming and no one can figure out what is happening. If it is not possible, any ideas what workaround may accomplish this? Thanks!
My Single value viz in Dashboard-Next are broken with conditional formatting. 2 issues: The main value font is always black, no matter what I do The conditional formatting font color overrides the comparison value font color (in the current dashboard, the comparison value color is not dependent on the conditional formatting).
I see the Dashboard last updated indicator in a newly created Dashboard (Beta) just fine. However, if I convert an existing dashboard to the new dashboard I don’t see it. Should it appear automatically, or is there something I can do to add it? Similarly (and less important), is there a way to remove it? I’m guessing this might be a settings thing - which is not there yet.
has there been any consideration to removing the limitation of showing stacked graph, with one or more series using a customized series type? Or is there a workaround? I have a chart showing unique users in each of several categories (stacked) per month. I’d really like to put the overall total unique users (which is lower than the sum of users in each category because users can be in multiple categories) as a line. The data table calculates this correctly, but if you try to set up the visualization, you first get both the “can’t use column with Time Axis and multiple series” limitation (which is easy to work-around) but then I hit the “Can’t Stack with Multiple Series Type” limitation. Thanks.
I have been alerted to a couple of new issues that have arisen with our Table Next reports since the 6.20 update Series custom formatting for fonts (colour, style, justification) does not work when their is either a pivot or the table is transposed, and measures are being left aligned. We need them to be right aligned We have set a report to email an A3 PDF on a schedule. Previously this would fit on one page, but now it is spreading onto two pages. We need this to be on one page It should be pointed out that when manually exporting a PDF of the report to A3, it correctly renders it to one page only I look forward to these fixes being rolled out in good time. Thanks
Hello, We are implementing a weekly trend line chart. Given the nature of being weekly, the last data point won’t be completed as long as we view the chart in the middle of a week. We would like to color it differently, e.g. in grey like this: One way I can think of is to paint the same data series for two times, one as the line chart and the other filtering out the rest but the last value as a scattered graph. However, it’s super tedious when there are a dozen of charts. Is there an easier way to do it? Thanks.
When I’m looking at a transposed table-next viz and add a dimension, as expected I get the error that I can’t transpose with multiple dimensions. However, instead of turning off transpose automatically or allowing me to turn it off, I’m stuck undoing my work, turning off transpose, and re-doing my work. I should be able to turn off the toggle, though I wouldn’t be able to turn it back on after if I have multiple dimensions.
Hello, We use Looker dashboards in our customers’ LMS installs. After trying to clear dashboard filters with one of our customers, it was found that the shortcut Command-K or Ctrl+K worked for some but not for others. I myself was not able to clear dashboard filters using this shortcut on a Mac in Firefox Version 70.0.1 and in Google Chrome Version 78.0.3904.108. Is there a reason why this would be?
When bars are added in the new table viz option, they scale should show 0-100%. It is very misleading to show the lowest value as axis line. Examples: This looks great when the minimum values are close to 0: This looks bad (extremely deceptive) when minimum values are not close to 0: This should show a bar at 20% of max:
Hi All silly question, but I am curious. Why does Looker show/allow different filters to appear differently… In the screen shot below, you’ll see the Bills Status is a text box, where you can type in multiple values. While the status in the last filter is in separate boxes with dropdowns.
I think most of the usual visualisations, when put on a dashboard as a tile, have about 10px padding around them: (it’s not about the margins between the tiles, but look at the gridlines and the edge of the tile) However the new table-next seems to have 0 this is from the right side of the tile that touches the edge of the screen, and here is the left The row numbers have some padding on their own but the table doesn’t
I created a bunch of looks and dashboards using a model that is now outdated. I would like to switch all my looks and dashboards to the new model - what is the best way to do this? Is there a way to avoid re-building all my looks/dashboards from scratch?
Hello, I was informed it was not possible to have the following graph sorted and have the text directly under the graph on the x-axis. It would be great to be able to sort my data and have my labels aligned under the axis for your next release. Kind regards, Christine
Hi, I’d like to know if there is a possibility to set up a conditional formatting that when 1 line is above another one, the area between both lines is filled by any kind of color. If the same first line is below the second one, nothing happens. Is that possible in Looker? Thanks! Guille.
Hi folks, Relatively new to Looker (only a few projects under my belt so far) and I’m wondering if there is a way to conditionally format something like a bar in a chart (maybe changing the color or something similar) based on the date - we have an ask from the “powers that be” to see if we can display a different color for incomplete months on our org’s performance dashboard. Has anyone done anything like this before, or is it even possible/reasonable? Thanks! Matt
Hi, I have just started using Looker recently and am having trouble with refresh schedule. This is the background: I have built a dashboard with 30 individual looks. All the looks source data from a the same table. The underlying table is very very big (>100 million records per day). I initially set an auto refresh schedule under the settings for each of the individual looks but everytime i opened the dashboard the individual looks were always running. So i set up a schedule to refresh at 6AM everyday. But this schedule refreshes all the looks in the dashboard. Is there a way to refresh only selective looks in a dashboard at say 6AM everyday while the other looks refresh once a week on Monday (just an example case). Also the data source view in a live table since it is consumed by multiple dashboards.
