How to take filter values in a tile which is different data set from the filter values of the dashboard

Hi All,

I have created a dashboard based of two different data sets (sections in a explore)

Most of the tiles in the dashboard are based on data set1 but one chart is based of data set 2.
The difference between the two datasets is the level of granularity,

  1. data set1 has campaign level data
  2. data set2 has ad level data

Due to some issues had to separate both the data.

As basically both the data sets are same, I want to use the values of filter in the dashboard to be pulled into the filters of the tile from data set 2

Below is the dashboard level filter values, the entire dashboard tiles are based of dataset1 except for one tile

For the tile which is from data set2, I want to pull in the values for filter from the main dashboard

How can I achieve this?

Two datasets (sections) in looker explore that I used to create tiles on a single dashboard

you don’t have to have tiles on same dataset in order to filter them with 1 filter.
a filter can be applied to tiles based on different datasets.
so if the date field exists both on set1 and set2 here’s what you need to do:

  1. add the tile to the dashboard and open the dashboard
  2. enter edit mode and hover over the tile from set2
  3. click Edit Applied Filters:

  4. you’ll see the dashboard date filter you’ve already defined
  5. enable it and choose the date field you want to apply it to from set2
