Feature request: Logarithmic scale for maps

The map vis has the potential to be great, but currently it too often ends up looking like this:

There are plenty of values in the white areas, but as they are in the tens of thousands rather than millions, they all default to white/empty.

In fact, the problem of sparsity across map visualisations occurs regularly. One solution to it is to take the logarithm of the displayed measure, which gives a fairer and more visually engaging picture as below:

However, if you look at the bottom left, you’ll see that the scale now becomes useless. One fix would be to put logarithms as a scale option for the colour scheme, much as they are in most other chart types:

Would this be doable? Or alternately, is there a way of letting the user choose the lowest, middle and highest colour, and where the middle colour should sit?
