Can we restrict report coloumns on the basis of user?

Hi 

I would like to know  can we restrict the dashboard entities on the basis of user roles? Like if we have 3 business users and we have a report with 20 coloumns so instead of creating 3 same report for three different user we create one report and hide data as per the data required for the users.

What about setting them up with a user attribute, then hiding/showing the columns based on the attribute?
