"Can't Stack with Multiple Series Type" limitation

has there been any consideration to removing the limitation of showing stacked graph, with one or more series using a customized series type? Or is there a workaround?


I have a chart showing unique users in each of several categories (stacked) per month. I’d really like to put the overall total unique users (which is lower than the sum of users in each category because users can be in multiple categories) as a line. The data table calculates this correctly, but if you try to set up the visualization, you first get both the “can’t use column with Time Axis and multiple series” limitation (which is easy to work-around) but then I hit the “Can’t Stack with Multiple Series Type” limitation.

I have been trying to do this too but can’t seem to be able to. Hope Looker will be able to either provide us a workaround or a feature to allow this type of visualisation.

We could really do with this functionality as well. being able to select which metrics to stack and plot other metrics on separate axis would help enormously.

The feature will be coming soon on Intricity at $500. Intricity is a partner of Looker which has custom visualizations for-purchase. You can check out the installation process at https://docs.looker.com/admin-options/platform/visualizations. Wow! That’s really awesome too. 😃 Was developing some dashboards on Tableau and I’m porting over to Looker. However, I noticed one of my diagram, Treemap, is not incorporated into Looker natively. It is currently supported with Intricity’s stack at https://looker.com/platform/blocks/viz/treemap-by-intricity. It will be awesome if it is included natively.

We don’t yet have a native treemap, you’re right, but we do have some open-source custom visualization code that should get you most of the way to one: https://github.com/looker/custom_visualizations_v2/blob/master/src/examples/treemap/README.md


It might need a little tweaking, but might be worth checking out.

the specific request was to be able to do a stack graph, with the data table totals (i.e. unique count) as an overlay line. I still don’t see how to do that. When you create a stacked column visualization from a pivot with Row Totals, the row totals is not shown. You can turn on Edit:Values:Totals Labels, but it shows a simple sum, not the unique count total.

Is there a way to show the unique count as line overlay on a stacked column?
