Best way to create a KPI tracker dashboard

I want to create a Looker dashboard that shows monthly trends for a whole lot of metrics (20+). These are all coming from different datasources at different grains, but the dashboard itself would just show the metric name and a monthly trend.

As I see it there are a few different ways I can build this out and I’m wondering what the most efficient option is in terms of performance and cost:

  • I can create a DWH table that aggregates all my metrics from their original sources and display all of them on a dashboard
  • I can create individual looks/explores for each metric and then put them together on a single dashboard
  • I can merge multiple explores and display all metrics on a single dashboard

Have I got anything wrong? Which option would be the best?

Hey there, you could connect Looker to Castor and manage all your KPI’s/Definitions in one place and also be able to see Lineage. Check it out - https://docs.castordoc.com/assets/dashboards

Many of our Looker Customers dig this feature - let me know if you have any questions!
