Are merge results with *dashboard* filters filtered before or after the merge?

For example, let’s say I have a dashboard with product sales merges three Explores, on the “Product Class” dimension.

The dashboard has a “Product Class” filter, and I filter down to “TVs” -- does that filter apply to the individual queries of the three Explores, or does it query all product data for the Explores, and then filter down to the selected class?
