As I’ve , the ability to analyze our Salesforce.com data with Looker was an absolute game-changer for our Sales Development department. So much so that our entire workflow now revolves around using Looker to track our KPIs and inform, then refine, our business and measuring processes.
In addition to all the metrics tracking and ad-hoc querying we do each day, we’ve also come to rely on Looker for identifying and correcting data errors. , our process for correcting these errors has become even more streamlined.
Here’s one quick example:
To ensure that leads are routed to the proper Salesperson, it’s critical that the Number of Employees field is entered correctly in Salesforce. Our team has a Looker report that returns Lead records that are missing this information. Before Looker Data Actions, here’s how it looked:
What you see there is that links to the Lead Record in Salesforce. This meant that to update the data, the SDR would need to click each link, wait for the tab to load, scroll down to the Number of Employees field, fill in the value, save the Lead with the new information, then close the tab and navigate back to Looker to do the next one. While this process technically worked, it required us to jump between tools constantly.
With Looker Data Actions, here’s how the same report looks:
Now, the SDR clicks the ellipsis next to the field, and a form is displayed so they can update relevant fields. The SDR updates the Number of Employees in the dialog box, and submits it. And that’s it.
The Lead Record auto-saves in Salesforce with the new information, without the SDR ever having to open new tabs or leave their Looker report. Much more streamlined, much more efficient. Here’s the final table, after about one minute of updates with Looker Actions:
While this particular example may not seem monumental, improving enough processes this way saves individuals time each day, and saves the team hours each week. Imagine each contributor on our team saving those five minutes, hundreds of times each month. We’re effectively increasing our FTE count, entirely through efficiencies gained in Looker. Additionally, this allows our SDRs to spend more time following up with their leads which means they can book more meetings. More meetings at the top of the funnel means more deals at the bottom.
